Discover more about Silver Pagoda

The Silver Pagoda, officially named Wat Ubaosoth Ratanaram, offers a serene escape and a glimpse into Cambodia's rich cultural and religious heritage. Located within the Royal Palace grounds, it was originally constructed as a wooden structure in 1892 under King Norodom. It was rebuilt in 1962 with reinforced concrete, and more than 5,000 silver tiles were added to the floor. Inside, you'll find a collection of bejeweled Buddha statues and other treasures. The temple is home to a life-sized gold Buddha statue adorned with thousands of diamonds and a crystal Buddha. The walls surrounding the pagoda are decorated with detailed murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Despite damage during the Khmer Rouge regime, the Silver Pagoda has been restored and remains a symbol of Cambodian devotion to Buddhism. While only a portion of the silver tiles are visible to protect them, the staircase leading to the pagoda is made of Italian marble. Photography is permitted in the outside exhibition areas.
