Known as the most sacred mountain in the province, it has been a popular pilgrimage site for centuries, attracting both locals and tourists seeking spiritual solace and stunning views.The mountain's history stretches back before the Angkorian era, with legends suggesting it was a sacred site as early as the Hindu period. One story recounts King Thommo Reachea I transferring Buddha relics to a village near the mountain in the 15th century. Wat Phnom Santuk, one of Cambodia's oldest temples, was constructed in the 7th century, marking the mountain as a prominent center for Khmer culture and religion.Visitors can ascend the mountain via a stone pathway with statues or a 2.5km paved road. At the summit, explore a white-walled temple, shrines, and deities, including reclining Buddhas carved into the rock. The site also features Prasat Touch, a pyramid-shaped structure with an intricately carved sandstone exterior. Boulders near the summit provide panoramic views south towards Tonle Sap.
