Kachanh Waterfall, also known as Ka Chanh Waterfall, is a captivating natural wonder located approximately 6 kilometers from Krong Ban Lung in Ratanakiri province, Cambodia. The waterfall gets its name from the nearby Kachanh Village, home to the Kreung ethnic minority. The waterfall is not very tall, standing at about 12 meters. Kachanh Waterfall flows along the Kantoeng Stream towards the Sre Pork River, creating a beautiful scene amidst the surrounding stream and rubber plantations. Visitors can descend a wooden stairway of around 72 steps to reach the base of the waterfall. The cool shadows cast by the large trees make the top of the waterfall a great place for picnics. A suspension bridge offers a vantage point for viewing and photographing the waterfall. You can also take a refreshing dip in the natural pools at the base of the falls. For those seeking relaxation, hammocks are available along the stream where you can unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature. The best time to visit Kachanh Waterfall is during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is ideal for swimming and outdoor activities. However, the wet season, from May to October, offers a chance to witness the waterfall at its most powerful.

    Getting There

    Tuk-Tuk

    From Krong Ban Lung, hire a local tuk-tuk for a round trip to Kachanh Waterfall. Negotiate the fare beforehand, typically costing around US$10-15. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes southeast on National Road 78, turning left at the Kachanh Waterfall sign. Confirm the waiting time with the driver while you explore the waterfall.

    Motorbike

    Rent a motorbike in Krong Ban Lung for about US$5-10 per day. Head southeast on National Road 78 for approximately 12 kilometers. Look for the Kachanh Waterfall sign and turn left, continuing for 3 kilometers to reach the entrance. Exercise caution on the roads, which can be bumpy.

    Drive southeast from Krong Ban Lung on National Road 78 for about 12 kilometers. Turn left at the Kachanh Waterfall sign and follow the road for 3 kilometers to the parking area. Note that there is an entrance fee of US$1 for foreigners.
