Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the Cape Breton Highlands National Park visitor center, start by heading east on the Cabot Trail (NS-30). Continue along this scenic route, passing through picturesque landscapes. After approximately 30 km, you will arrive at Chéticamp Campground located at 16719 Cabot Trail, Petit Étang, NS B0E 2M0. Look for the campground entrance on your right. There is a parking area available for visitors.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Chéticamp Campground using public transportation, you can take a bus from Sydney or Halifax to Chéticamp. Check with local bus services for schedules and routes. Once you arrive in Chéticamp, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to the campground. The campground is approximately 5 km from the Chéticamp town center, so confirm the fare with the driver beforehand.

• Bicycle

  For those adventurous enough to cycle, you can bike along the Cabot Trail. If you are starting from the visitor center, it’s a moderate ride of about 30 km. The trail has designated bike lanes in some areas, but always be cautious of traffic. Ensure you have the appropriate gear, and consider carrying extra water and snacks for the ride. Note that bike rentals may be available in nearby towns.

• Walking

  Walking to Chéticamp Campground is not the most feasible option due to the distance, but if you are already in the nearby area, you can hike along the scenic trails that connect to the Cabot Trail. Ensure you are well-prepared with maps and supplies, as some areas may not have cell service. Be mindful of the weather and trail conditions.
