If you are traveling by car, the most straightforward route to Kagawong Lighthouse is to take Highway 401. From major cities in Eastern Ontario, such as Kingston or Ottawa, you can connect to Highway 401 and head west. Follow Highway 401 until you reach Highway 6 North in the direction of Manitoulin Island. Continue on Highway 6 until you reach the town of Gore Bay. Upon arriving in Gore Bay, follow Main Street until you arrive at 183 Main St, where the Kagawong Lighthouse is located. The drive from Kingston takes approximately 4 hours, and from Ottawa about 5 hours. Parking is available nearby, but check local signage for any restrictions.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to Sudbury. From Sudbury, you can catch a regional bus or a taxi service to Gore Bay. Bus services like Greyhound or Ontario Northland provide routes from various locations in Eastern Ontario to Sudbury. Once you arrive in Gore Bay, you can either walk or take a local taxi to 183 Main St, where the Kagawong Lighthouse is situated. Please check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary, and it’s advisable to book your tickets ahead of time. Expect costs to vary based on your starting point, but budget around $50-$100 for the trip to Sudbury and an additional $20-$30 for the taxi to Gore Bay.
