Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Edmonton, take the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) eastbound towards Sherwood Park. Merge onto the Anthony Henday Drive (Highway 216) southbound. Follow the Henday until it connects to Highway 2 southbound towards Calgary. Stay on Highway 2 until you reach the junction with Highway 401 eastbound towards Ontario. Continue on Highway 401, which eventually becomes the Trans-Canada Highway. Follow signs for Ottawa. Once you arrive in Ottawa, navigate to downtown, where Parliament Hill is located. Parking is available nearby but may incur costs depending on the location.

  • Public Transportation (Bus & Train)

    From Edmonton, take a Greyhound bus or VIA Rail train to Ottawa. The Greyhound terminal is located at 10014 104 St NW, and the VIA Rail station is at 12360 121 St NW. Once you arrive in Ottawa, you can take OC Transpo buses or the O-Train (Light Rail) to downtown Ottawa. The nearest station to Parliament Hill is the Parliament station on the O-Train line. Be sure to check the OC Transpo website for schedules and fares, which may vary.

  • Flight

    You can also fly from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW). Various airlines operate direct flights. Once you land, take the OC Transpo 97 bus from the airport to the downtown area. The fare for the bus is approximately CAD 3.75, and it will take about 30-40 minutes to reach downtown Ottawa. From there, you can walk to Parliament Hill, which is roughly a 15-minute walk.
