Discover more about White Water Walk

The White Water Walk offers a thrilling experience for those wanting to witness the untamed power of the Niagara River. Located a short distance from the iconic falls, this attraction takes you deep into the Niagara Gorge, where you can walk alongside the river's Class 6 rapids, some of the wildest in North America. The adventure begins with a 70-meter elevator descent into the gorge. Emerging from a 73-meter tunnel, you'll find yourself on a 305-meter (1,000 feet) boardwalk that runs adjacent to the churning waters. The boardwalk features several viewing platforms, providing incredible vantage points to observe the rapids and the dramatic rock formations of the Niagara Gorge, which date back 410 million years. The rapids at White Water Walk travel at approximately 48 kilometers per hour (30 mph), creating a mesmerizing display of natural energy. The sheer volume of water and the speed at which it flows is a testament to the erosive power of the Niagara River, which has shaped the landscape over thousands of years. While experiencing the White Water Walk, take note of the commemorative panels honoring Harriet Tubman's historic crossing into Canada in 1856. These panels recognize the significance of the Niagara region as a haven for freedom seekers escaping slavery via the Underground Railroad.
