Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by getting onto the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). Depending on your starting location in Manitoba, you may need to navigate through local roads to reach the highway. Once on Highway 1, follow the signs toward Winnipeg. After approximately 55 kilometers, take exit 3B to merge onto Provincial Road 222 towards Gimli. Drive for about 30 kilometers on PR-222. As you approach Gimli, continue onto Main St, and then turn left onto 2 Ave. The Gimli Viking Statue will be located on your right at 104 2 Ave, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound bus from Winnipeg to Gimli. The bus service usually operates several times a day. Make sure to check the schedule in advance and purchase your ticket either online or at the bus station. Once you arrive at the Gimli bus terminal, it is a short walk to the Gimli Viking Statue, located at 104 2 Ave. Simply head south on Main St and then turn left onto 2 Ave to reach the statue.

• Bicycle

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to bike, you can take the same route as cars. Start on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) and follow it to PR-222. Note that biking on the highway can be challenging due to traffic, so consider taking local roads that parallel the highway for a safer ride. The total distance from Winnipeg to Gimli is approximately 85 kilometers, so plan for a full day of cycling, and ensure you have adequate supplies and a map.
