If you are already in Port Dalhousie, the lighthouse is easily accessible by foot. From the main area of Port Dalhousie, head east towards the waterfront and follow the signs for Lighthouse Road. The lighthouse is located at the end of Lighthouse Road and is a pleasant walk.
Public Transport

From Niagara Falls, take a local bus to St. Catharines. From the St. Catharines bus terminal, transfer to a bus that services Port Dalhousie (routes 301, 306, and 401). Get off at Main St + Elgin St, the closest bus stop to Port Dalhousie. From there, walk north on Main Street, then turn right onto Lakeport Road, followed by a left onto Lighthouse Road. The lighthouse will be at the end of the road. A single bus fare is approximately $3 - $4.
Car

If driving from Niagara Falls, take the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) towards Toronto. Exit at St. Catharines at Ontario Street (exit #47). Follow Ontario Street north, which becomes Lakeshore Road. Turn left onto Lighthouse Road. The lighthouse is at the end of the road. Limited parking is available near the lighthouse at 80 Lighthouse Rd. The city has about 90 public parking spaces in this lot year-round and 141 spaces from June through to September. Parking at Lakeside Park is $3 per hour, with a three-hour time limit.

The first lighthouse appeared in 1833. The current lighthouse replaced earlier structures, one of which was destroyed by lightning in 1898. In 1902, the light was electrified. The rear range light was deactivated in 1988.The lighthouse itself is an impressive sight. It's one of only six wooden octagonal lighthouses remaining on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes. A unique beaver weathervane sits atop the tower's twelve-sided lantern room. Visitors can stroll along the waterfront, taking in the views of the lake, the nearby marina, and the surrounding parkland.
