    Located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, the Valiants Memorial is a powerful monument honoring the men and women who have demonstrated extraordinary courage in service to Canada. Dedicated on November 5, 2006, the memorial commemorates fourteen individuals from Canada's military history, representing key periods of conflict from the French Regime to the Second World War.The memorial's design, created by artists Marlene Hilton Moore and John McEwen, includes nine life-sized busts and five statues. These sculptures depict significant figures such as General Sir Isaac Brock, who played a crucial role in the War of 1812, and Laura Secord, who famously warned British forces of an impending American attack. Other figures include soldier-settlers The Count of Frontenac and Pierre Le Moyne D'Iberville, native leader Joseph Brant, and Lieutenant-Colonel John Butler.The memorial is located on the northeast corner of Confederation Square, near the National War Memorial. A bronze wall at the site features an inscription from Virgil's Aeneid: "Nulla dies umquam memori vos eximet aevo," which translates to "No day will ever erase you from the memory of time". The Valiants Memorial serves not only as a place of remembrance but also as a space for reflection on the sacrifices made by Canadians in the defense of their country.
