Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving a car from anywhere within Prince Edward Island National Park, head southeast on the main park road towards Route 1. Merge onto Route 1 and continue for approximately 35 km. Take the exit toward Wood Islands and follow the signs to Wood Islands Lighthouse. Turn left onto Lighthouse Road, and the lighthouse will be on your left at 173 Lighthouse Rd, Wood Islands, PE C0A 1B0. There is parking available near the lighthouse.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from Charlottetown to Wood Islands. The bus service typically runs several times a day; check for the latest schedule from Maritime Bus. Once you arrive in Wood Islands, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 km from the bus stop at the Wood Islands ferry terminal to reach the lighthouse. Follow Lighthouse Road, which will lead you directly to the lighthouse. Ensure you check the bus schedule for return trips.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Wood Islands Lighthouse is a wonderful option. Starting from the nearest point in the park, cycle southeast on the designated bike paths leading to Route 1. Follow the same directions as for cars, being cautious of traffic on Route 1. The distance from most points in the park is approximately 30-40 km, so plan for a leisurely ride. There are bike racks available at the lighthouse for parking.
