Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey in the city of Temuco. Head east on Route 5 towards the town of Melipeuco. After approximately 75 kilometers, take the exit towards Route S-61, following signs for Parque Nacional Conguillio. Continue on Route S-61 for about 20 kilometers until you reach the park entrance. There is an entrance fee of approximately 5,000 CLP for adults and 3,000 CLP for children. Once inside the park, follow the signs for Laguna Arcoíris, which is about a 30-minute drive from the entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Temuco to Melipeuco. The bus ride takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Melipeuco, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a local tour operator to take you to Parque Nacional Conguillio. The taxi ride to the park entrance will take about 30 minutes and typically costs around 15,000 to 20,000 CLP. Remember to confirm the taxi fare before starting your trip. Once in the park, follow the signs to Laguna Arcoíris.
Hiking
If you are an adventurous traveler and prefer hiking, you can park your car at the entrance of Parque Nacional Conguillio and hike to Laguna Arcoíris. The trail is about 9 kilometers long and takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to reach the lake. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
