If you are starting your journey in the Central Valley region of Chile, drive towards Route 5 (Pan-American Highway). Follow Route 5 north until you reach the junction for Route 23 at Los Andes. Take Route 23 towards San Pedro de Atacama. Continue on this road for approximately 1,400 kilometers. When you arrive in San Pedro de Atacama, follow the signs to Valle de Marte. The entrance to Valle de Marte is located just a few kilometers outside of town. Be sure to have a map or GPS handy as some roads may not be well marked.

For travelers using public transportation, you can take a bus from Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama. Several bus companies operate this route, including Turbus and Pullman Bus. The journey takes around 24 hours, so be prepared for a long trip. Once you arrive in San Pedro de Atacama, you can take a local taxi or a shared van (collectivo) to Valle de Marte. The cost for the taxi or collectivo should be around 5,000 to 10,000 CLP depending on the number of passengers.
