Getting There

  • Car

    From the main parking area in Valle de la Luna, head southeast on the main road (Ruta 23) towards San Pedro de Atacama. Continue for about 5 kilometers until you see signs for Mirador San Pedro. Turn left onto the dirt road leading to the mirador. Follow this road for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the designated parking area near the viewpoint. Be sure to take care as the road can be rough in places.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, start from the center of San Pedro de Atacama. Look for a local bus or shared taxi (collectivo) heading to Valle de la Luna. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to Valle de la Luna. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers towards Mirador San Pedro. Keep an eye out for directional signs towards the viewpoint. Note that the cost for a bus or collectivo ride is usually around 2,000 to 3,000 CLP.

    If you are already within Valle de la Luna, you can reach Mirador San Pedro by walking. Start from the main entrance of Valle de la Luna and follow the marked trails leading towards the viewpoint. The walk is approximately 1.5 kilometers and should take about 30 minutes. Make sure to bring water and sun protection, as the terrain can be exposed.
