If you are driving from the main entrance of Valle de la Luna, head southeast on Route 23 towards San Pedro de Atacama. Continue on Route 23 for approximately 10 km until you reach the intersection with Route 27. Turn left onto Route 27 and follow the road for about 5 km. You should see signs for Observatorio Alarkapin. Follow the signs, and after another 2 km, you will arrive at the observatory located at Ayllu de, Coyo.

To reach Observatorio Alarkapin via public transportation, first take a bus from the Valle de la Luna area to San Pedro de Atacama. Once in San Pedro, you can take a taxi or a local shuttle service to Ayllu de, Coyo. Make sure to confirm the destination with the driver. The total travel time may vary, but it should take around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Be aware that the taxi fare could range from 5,000 to 10,000 CLP.

If you prefer to walk from Valle de la Luna to Observatorio Alarkapin, it is approximately a 15 km trek. Start by walking southeast towards Route 23. Once you reach Route 23, head towards San Pedro de Atacama, and continue until you see the signs for Route 27. Follow Route 27 until you reach the turnoff for Ayllu de, Coyo. This option is best for experienced hikers and should take around 3-4 hours.
