Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from San Pedro de Atacama. Head southwest on Caracoles de la Cordillera (Route 23) for about 10 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Valle de la Luna. The entrance to the park is well-marked and is located approximately 2 kilometers from the main road. There is an entrance fee of around 3,000 CLP per person, which can be paid at the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Valle de la Luna using public transportation, take a local tour bus or shuttle service from San Pedro de Atacama. These services typically leave from the main plaza or designated tourist spots in the town. The cost is usually around 5,000 to 8,000 CLP per person for a round trip. Ensure to confirm the return schedule with the driver, as service times may vary.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, renting a bicycle in San Pedro de Atacama is a great option. Rent a mountain bike from one of the local shops and cycle to Valle de la Luna. It's about 13 kilometers from San Pedro, and the ride will take approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities inside the park. Bicycle rentals typically cost around 5,000 to 10,000 CLP for a few hours.

• Walking

  If you are feeling adventurous and have the time, you can walk from San Pedro de Atacama to Valle de la Luna. The distance is approximately 13 kilometers and will take around 3 to 4 hours. Start early in the morning to avoid the heat. Take Route 23 and follow the signs to Valle de la Luna. Remember to bring water and wear appropriate footwear, as the terrain can be rugged.
