To reach Fuerte de San Fernando de Bocachica, start at the main dock in Cartagena, known as the Muelle de los Pegasos. From there, you can catch a boat to Isla de Barú or directly to Bocachica. Look for boats that have signs indicating they go to Bocachica. The boat ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at Bocachica, you can walk towards the fortress, which is well signposted and located a short distance from the dock.

If you prefer to use public transportation, take a bus from the city center to the town of Pasacaballos. Look for buses that have 'Pasacaballos' written on them, which can be found at the main bus terminal or along Avenida Venezuela. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Pasacaballos, you can hire a local boat taxi to take you to Fuerte de San Fernando de Bocachica. Make sure to negotiate the fare before boarding the boat.

For the more adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Cartagena and ride to the Bocachica area.
