From the center of Guatapé, head east on Carretera 20. Continue driving for about 7 km until you reach the intersection with the road to Río San Carlos. This road is marked with a sign. Turn left onto this road and follow it for approximately 5 km. You will cross a small bridge, and you can park your car in the designated area near the river's entrance. There may be a small parking fee, usually around 5,000 COP.

From the central plaza in Guatapé, look for a bus heading to San Rafael or El Peñol. These buses are typically parked near the main square and depart frequently. The fare is around 7,000 COP per person. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the stop for Río San Carlos. After getting off, walk approximately 1 km towards the river, following the main road. You will see signs directing you to the river.

If you prefer to walk from the center of Guatapé, head east on Carretera 20. It is about a 7 km walk to the intersection with the road leading to Río San Carlos.
