From the city center of Ibagué, head to the Terminal de Transporte (bus terminal) located at Calle 60 # 9-50. You can take a taxi or walk to reach the terminal. Once there, look for a bus heading to Pereira, as you will need to get to the city of Pereira first. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. After arriving in Pereira, you will need to take another bus to the municipality of Santa Rosa de Cabal, which is the closest town to Lake Otún. Once in Santa Rosa de Cabal, you can take a taxi or a local bus to Lake Otún, which is about 15-20 minutes away.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Ibagué straight to Lake Otún. You can negotiate a fare with the taxi driver, but expect the trip to take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are familiar with the location of Lake Otún in Risaralda.

You can also find shared vans (known as 'colectivos') at various points in Ibagué, particularly near the Terminal de Transporte. Look for vans heading towards Pereira or Santa Rosa de Cabal. These vans are usually quicker than buses and can be a more economical option. After arriving in Pereira or Santa Rosa, you can take a taxi to Lake Otún.
