Bus
From Popayán, take a bus towards Puracé. Buses depart regularly and the journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Tell the driver you are going to Puracé National Park, not the town, as the park entrance is further up the mountain. The bus will drop you off at Cruce de la Mina. From there, it's a 30-40 minute uphill hike to the park entrance. Bus fare is approximately 15,000 COP.
Taxi
Alternatively, hire a taxi or arrange a guided tour from Popayán for a more direct route to the park entrance. This option offers flexibility and comfort, but is more expensive. A taxi may cost around 80,000-120,000 COP. Negotiate the price beforehand.
Entrance Fees & Guide
Upon arrival at the park entrance, all visitors must hire a local indigenous guide. Entrance fee for foreigners is 40,000 COP. The guide fee is 35,000 COP, which can be split among a group. Be sure to bring your passport.
