Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Driving
To reach Ouzel Falls, start from Estes Park and drive south on CO-7 E for 16 miles. Turn right onto County Road 84 W, and continue to the Wild Basin Trailhead. In winter (October-May), Highway 115 may be closed, requiring parking at a winter lot and adding 3 miles each way to the hike. A timed entry permit may be required to enter the park. Check the National Park Service website for current conditions and closures.
Parking
Parking is available at the Wild Basin Trailhead. The lot can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays, so arrive early. If the main lot is full, you may need to park further down the road and walk in. Parking is free with your park entry fee. Be aware of potholes in the parking lot, especially in the spring.
