Getting There

Driving

From Estes Park, drive south on CO-7 for approximately 19 miles. Turn west onto Wild Basin Road and follow it for 2.2 miles to the Wild Basin Trailhead. Note that Wild Basin Road turns into Highway 115, a maintained dirt road, for the final stretch. In winter, this road may not be plowed all the way to the trailhead, adding 3 miles (one-way) to your hike from the winter parking area. Park entrance fees apply upon entering Rocky Mountain National Park. As of July 2025, a daily pass is $30 per vehicle, or an annual pass is $80.
Walking

From the Wild Basin Trailhead parking lot, locate the Wild Basin Trail on the south side of the lot. Cross the footbridges over North St. Vrain Creek. Follow the signs for Copeland Falls. The trail is a well-maintained, easy walk of 0.3 miles to Lower Copeland Falls and another 0.2 miles to Upper Copeland Falls. No special equipment is needed.

The Wild Basin provides access to other stunning destinations such as Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls, allowing hikers to extend their adventure deeper into the park.
