Walking
If you're starting from downtown Durango, head southwest on Main Ave toward 12th St. Continue for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with 8th St. Turn left onto 8th St and walk for about 0.3 miles, then turn right onto Camino del Rio. After about 0.2 miles, you will reach the Animas River Trail. Turn left onto the Animas River Trail and follow it for approximately 1.5 miles. You will pass scenic views along the river. Keep an eye out for the trail signs pointing toward Gudy's Rest. After reaching the designated trailhead, follow the trail for another 0.5 miles until you arrive at Gudy's Rest, a picturesque viewpoint along the Colorado Trail.

Rent a bike from one of the local shops in downtown Durango. Start your journey on Main Ave heading southwest. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto 8th St. Continue biking for about 0.3 miles and then turn right onto Camino del Rio. Follow Camino del Rio until you reach the Animas River Trail. Once on the trail, head south for approximately 1.5 miles. Look for signs directing you to Gudy's Rest as you approach the trailhead. Bike along the trail for another 0.5 miles to reach this stunning viewpoint.
