Getting There

  • Driving

    From Estes Park, follow US-36 West towards Rocky Mountain National Park. The Deer Mountain Trailhead is located approximately 4.3 miles from the Beaver Meadows Entrance Center on the right side of the road. Look for pull-off parking spots on the right as you approach the trailhead. Parking is limited, so arrive early. A timed entry permit may be required to enter the park between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. from May through October. The entrance fee to Rocky Mountain National Park is $30 per vehicle for a day pass or $35 per vehicle for a weekly pass. An annual America the Beautiful pass is also accepted.

  • Shuttle

    During the summer, a free shuttle service operates within Rocky Mountain National Park. However, the shuttle does not directly serve the Deer Mountain Trailhead. Visitors can take the shuttle to the nearby Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and then walk approximately 1.5 miles along US-36 to reach the trailhead. Check the park's website for the shuttle schedule and route information. There is no cost for the shuttle, but a park entrance fee or pass is still required to access the park.
