Getting There

    From the intersection of Wonderview Avenue (US-34 Bypass) and MacGregor Avenue in Estes Park, turn north onto MacGregor Avenue. Continue for 1.2 miles; MacGregor Avenue makes a sharp right and becomes Devils Gulch Road. The Lumpy Ridge Trailhead will be on your left after driving 0.8 miles on Devils Gulch Road. Parking at the Lumpy Ridge Trailhead is free, but limited. Arrive early, especially during peak season, to secure a spot. A permit is required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park. A 7-day pass costs $30 per vehicle. This section of the park is not under a timed entry requirement.

  • Public Transport

    During peak season (late May to mid-October), the Hiker Shuttle provides service from the Estes Park Visitor Center to the Park & Ride Transit Hub inside Rocky Mountain National Park. From there, you can connect to other shuttle routes within the park. To reach Lumpy Ridge from the Park & Ride, you would need to take a private transportation service or taxi, as the shuttle does not service the Lumpy Ridge area. Hiker Shuttle tickets are $2 per reservation and must be purchased in advance on Recreation.gov. Private trailhead drop-off services, like Explore Estes, offer rides from Estes Park to trailheads within the park, but require a timed entry permit and park entrance fee, in addition to the transportation cost.
