Start your journey from downtown Grand Junction. Head west on Main Street toward 1st Street, then take a left onto 1st Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with North Avenue (US-6). Turn right onto North Avenue and follow it as it becomes the US-50 heading west. After a few miles, look for the sign for Glade Park Road and turn left. Continue on Glade Park Road for approximately 9 miles. The road will lead you to Cold Shivers Point Overlook, which will be on your right. Be cautious as the road can be narrow and winding.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, start from downtown Grand Junction. Make your way to the Grand Junction City Market and take a break to gather supplies. From there, walk west along the Riverfront Trail until you reach the intersection with US-50. Follow US-50 west towards the Glade Park Road exit. This option is quite long, about 18 miles, so ensure you have plenty of water and snacks. Once you reach Glade Park Road, turn left and continue for about 9 miles until you arrive at Cold Shivers Point Overlook on your right. This will be a lengthy trek, so consider it only if you are well-prepared.
Public Transport and Hiking
Begin your journey at the Grand Junction bus terminal. Take the bus that heads toward Fruita, and ask the driver to let you off at the intersection with Glade Park Road. From there, you will need to hike approximately 9 miles up Glade Park Road to reach Cold Shivers Point Overlook. The hike will take you through scenic areas, but be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Keep an eye out for vehicles, as the road can be busy.
