Discover more about Historic Carousel #72

The Historic Carousel #72, also known as the George R. Williams' Memorial Carousel, is a treasured landmark in Pueblo City Park. Built in 1911 by the Charles Wallace Parker Amusement Devices Company, it's a classic example of a 'Carry Us All' carousel, featuring three rows of horses, a chariot, and a spinning tub. The carousel boasts 36 intricately carved horses, with the inner rows showcasing the Parker Drop Leg style from around 1900. The outer row features horses carved by Solomon Stein and Harry Goldstein of Brooklyn, New York, around 1907. This unique combination of styles adds to the carousel's charm and historical significance. Originally powered by steam, the carousel now runs on electricity. A 1920 Wurlitzer 146 band organ provides the soundtrack, filling the air with nostalgic melodies. The carousel has a rich history, having been a centerpiece of Lake Minnequa Amusement Park before finding its permanent home in Pueblo City Park in 1940. Saved from disrepair by the city and its citizens, it was meticulously restored and reopened in 1985. Today, it continues to delight visitors and create lasting memories.
