Discover more about Pueblo Riverwalk

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (HARP) is a vibrant centerpiece of the city, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and recreation. Spanning 32 acres, this urban waterfront has transformed a once-neglected area into a thriving destination for locals and tourists alike. The Riverwalk's story began with the Great Pueblo Flood of 1921, which devastated the city's downtown. In response, the Arkansas River was rerouted. Almost 60 years later, Pueblo was facing economic challenges, and civic leaders decided to revitalize downtown Pueblo and bring back the river. Inspired by the San Antonio Riverwalk, the community voted to fund the project, which opened in 2000. Today, the Riverwalk is home to a mile-long channel, lined with restaurants, shops, and public art. Visitors can enjoy a narrated history tour by boat, stroll along the paved walkways, and admire the 54 outdoor sculptures that dot the landscape. The Veterans' Bridge, dedicated in 2010, honors the men and women who have served in the military. The Riverwalk also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including concerts, movies, and festivals. The HARP Authority continues to expand the Riverwalk, with a new boathouse and river channel extension slated for completion in 2025. This ongoing development ensures that the Pueblo Riverwalk remains a dynamic and engaging destination for years to come.
