Discover more about Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) stands as a beacon of art and culture in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Founded in 1893 as the Denver Artists' Club, it has evolved into one of the largest and most significant art museums between Chicago and the West Coast. With a collection spanning over 70,000 works, the DAM offers visitors a journey through global art history, featuring pieces from diverse cultures and time periods. The museum's campus comprises two primary buildings: the Martin Building (formerly the North Building) designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti, and the Frederic C. Hamilton Building, designed by Daniel Libeskind. The Martin Building, which opened in 1971, is Ponti's only completed project in North America, distinguished by its unique castle-like facade covered in over a million reflective glass tiles. A comprehensive renovation, completed in 2021 for the building's 50th anniversary, revitalized Ponti's original design and added new spaces, including the Sie Welcome Center. The Hamilton Building, which opened in 2006, complements the Martin Building with its own bold architectural statement, its geometric planes clad in titanium. The DAM's collections are organized into 12 departments, including African Art, Architecture and Design, Art of the Ancient Americas, Asian Art, European and American Art before 1900, Latin American Art, Modern and Contemporary Art, and Indigenous Arts of North America. The museum is particularly renowned for its holdings of Indigenous art and Latin American art. In October 2024, the Denver Art Museum merged with the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Arts. Visitors can engage with the art through a variety of programs, tours, and exhibitions. The museum also provides creative spaces and interactive experiences for all ages. With free admission for anyone 18 and younger, the DAM is committed to making art accessible to the community and future generations.
