Imogene Pass can be approached from either Ouray or Telluride. Note that Imogene Pass is closed from the Telluride side for the summer of 2025 due to road repairs. From Ouray, drive south on US-550 and turn onto Camp Bird Road (County Road 361). Follow Camp Bird Road, turning left onto the Imogene Pass Road. The ascent is steep and rocky. Ensure your vehicle is suited for the terrain. There are no fees to access the pass. Parking is limited, especially at the summit. Be prepared for potential delays due to oncoming traffic on narrow sections.

Experienced hikers can also traverse Imogene Pass. The trail is steep and strenuous, with significant elevation gain. From Ouray, follow Camp Bird Road to the Imogene Pass trailhead.
