Follow Boreas Pass Road for approximately 3.5 miles to the Baker's Tank Trailhead, which marks the start of the unpaved section. Continue along the dirt road to reach the summit of Boreas Pass. Be aware that the road is closed to motorized vehicles during the winter months, typically from October to May. There are no fees associated with driving Boreas Pass Road when it is open to vehicular traffic.

The railroad, a major engineering feat, operated until 1937, facilitating the transport of minerals and connecting communities. Today, remnants of the ghost town of Boreas, including rebuilt railroad station structures, can be seen at the summit.The road is generally open to highway-legal vehicles from May to October, offering access to dispersed camping (only in designated sites), hiking, and scenic vistas. In winter, it transforms into a haven for cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
