Public Bus
From Vail Village, head to the Vail Transportation Center located at 1000 Vail View Drive. Catch the ECO bus heading towards Minturn. It's a scenic ride of about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the Minturn stop. From there, you can either walk or catch a local shuttle that may take you closer to Montgomery Reservoir, which is approximately 4 miles away. Be sure to check the local shuttle schedules for the most convenient option.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Vail Village. Head south on the bike path that runs parallel to the river, following signs for Minturn. Continue along the path for about 7 miles until you reach the intersection with Colorado Route 24. Turn left and follow the road for about 1 mile to Montgomery Reservoir. It’s a beautiful ride, but be prepared for some elevation changes!
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from Vail Village to Montgomery Reservoir. Start at the Vail Village pedestrian area and head south towards the Gore Creek Drive. Follow Gore Creek Drive until you reach the bike path. Continue on the bike path towards Minturn, which will take about 2 hours. Once you reach Minturn, follow Colorado Route 24 for about 1 mile to Montgomery Reservoir. This is a scenic route but ensure you have enough time and water for the walk.
