The Riverdale Y, officially the Riverdale YM-YWHA, has served as a vital community center in the Riverdale section of the Bronx since its founding in 1967. More than just a gym or community center, the Y strives to enrich lives by cultivating universally shared values central to Jewish life through a diverse range of programs. For families with young children, the Riverdale Y offers a trusted and enriching Early Childhood Center with nursery school programs for ages 2-5, including Pre-K for All, with early drop off and extended day options. There are also after-school enrichment programs, summer camps, and infant and toddler classes. The Y also provides youth sports and aquatics programs. Adults can take advantage of the fitness center, which offers personal training and group classes, and an indoor, heated, 25-yard saline pool for lap and open swimming. The Rhoda Grundman Music School offers music and dance lessons for children and adult ballet classes. The Riverdale Y is also home to The Theater at Riverdale Y, which stages multiple productions each year and has three resident theater companies: Riverdale Rising Stars, Jr. Rising Stars, and Riverdale Rep. For older adults, the Y's New Beginnings program, for those 60 and older, provides free membership, kosher lunch every weekday, social work services, transportation, field trips, and classes on various topics. The Riverdale Y's mission is to enrich lives by building and strengthening community and creating a space of belonging where everyone feels respected and appreciated.

    The Riverdale Y is accessible via public transportation. The BX10 and BX7 buses stop near the Y. From Manhattan, you can take the 1 subway line to 242nd Street and transfer to the BX10 or BX7 bus. A single ride on the subway or bus costs $2.75.

    From the intersection of Riverdale Avenue and West 256th Street, walk east on West 256th Street, then turn left onto Arlington Avenue. The Riverdale Y will be on your left. The walk is approximately 0.2 miles and should take about 5 minutes.
