Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto I-95 N or I-91 N, depending on your current location in Long Island Sound. Follow the signs for New Haven. Once you reach New Haven, take exit 47 for CT-34 W toward Downtown. Merge onto CT-34 W and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Whitney Ave. Turn right onto Whitney Ave. The Yale Peabody Museum will be on your left at 170 Whitney Ave. There is metered street parking available around the museum. Make sure to check the meters for rates and hours.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, you can take a Metro-North train to New Haven Union Station. From there, you can either walk, which is about a 20-minute walk (1 mile) to the museum, or you can take the CT Transit bus. If you choose to walk, exit the station and head northwest on State St toward Union Ave, then turn left onto Union Ave. Continue straight onto Howard Ave, and finally turn right onto Whitney Ave. The museum will be on your left at 170 Whitney Ave. If you opt for the bus, take the CT Transit bus route 228 or 229 from Union Station to the Whitney Ave & Trumbull St stop, which is a short walk from the museum.
