Public Transit - Bus
From New Britain, head to the nearest bus stop on Main Street. Take the CTtransit bus route 82 towards Waterbury. Stay on the bus for approximately 40 minutes. Get off at the New Haven Union Station stop. Once you arrive at Union Station, exit the station and walk towards Chapel Street. Turn right on Chapel Street and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach Elm Street. Turn left on Elm Street, and you will find the New Haven Free Public Library at 133 Elm St.

Public Transit - Train
Make your way to the New Britain train station located on East Main Street. Board the Metro-North train towards Grand Central Terminal. After about 30 minutes, get off at the New Haven station. Once you exit the station, walk towards Chapel Street. Turn right on Chapel Street and continue walking for about 0.5 miles until you reach Elm Street. Turn left on Elm Street to reach the New Haven Free Public Library located at 133 Elm St.

If you're already in downtown New Britain, start at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Head south on Main Street, then turn left onto East Main Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the New Britain train station. From there, you can either take the train or walk to the bus station, or you can choose to walk to New Haven directly, which will take about 1.5 hours. Follow the same route as described for public transit once you reach New Haven.
