Start at the New Haven Green, which is a central location in downtown New Haven. From the Green, walk to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of Chapel Street and Church Street. Take the CT Transit bus number 228 towards Long Wharf. Stay on the bus for approximately 10-15 minutes until you reach the Long Wharf area. Get off at the stop named 'Long Wharf Drive at State Pier'. After exiting the bus, walk east along Long Wharf Drive for about 0.5 miles. You will see signs directing you to the Long Wharf Nature Preserve. The entrance to the preserve is at the end of the path.

Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a nearby bike-sharing station or bring your own. Start at the New Haven Green and head south on Church Street. Continue straight until you reach the Long Wharf area, which is approximately a 1.5-mile ride. Follow Long Wharf Drive, and keep an eye out for bike lanes. Once you near the end of Long Wharf Drive, look for signs leading you to the Long Wharf Nature Preserve.

For those who enjoy walking, begin at the New Haven Green. Head south on Church Street until you reach the intersection with State Street. Turn left onto State Street and continue walking until you reach Long Wharf Drive. Take a right onto Long Wharf Drive and walk approximately 1.5 miles. You will see the entrance to Long Wharf Nature Preserve on your left near the end of Long Wharf Drive.
