Getting There

Walking
Start at the Matavera Church, which is a notable landmark in the area. Head west on the main road, following the signs towards Avarua. Continue walking straight for about 20 minutes until you reach a T-junction. At the T-junction, turn left onto Makea Tinirau Rd. The Cook Islands Library & Museum will be on your right after about 5 minutes of walking.

If you are near the Matavera Market, exit the market and head south towards the coastline. Walk along the coast path for approximately 15 minutes until you reach the Avarua area. Once you arrive at the main road, turn left and continue walking for about 10 minutes. You will see the Cook Islands Library & Museum on your left, right on Makea Tinirau Rd.

From the Matavera Beach, head back towards the main road by walking east and then turn left at the main road. Walk along the road for about 25 minutes. You will pass some local shops and cafes. When you reach the T-junction, turn right onto Makea Tinirau Rd, and the museum will be on your right in approximately 5 minutes.
