    The public bus, operated by Cook's Island Bus, offers a convenient way to reach Avarua from other parts of Rarotonga. Two routes, Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise, circle the island, departing from Cook's Corner in central Avarua. The Clockwise bus departs on the hour, while the Anti-Clockwise bus departs at half-past the hour. A single fare costs approximately NZ$5, and a day pass is available for around NZ$16. From the airport, the bus to Avarua takes about 3 minutes.

    Taxis are readily available in Avarua and can be used for airport transfers or short trips around town. Taxi fares start at NZ$10 for a minimum day fare and NZ$15 at night, with a cost of NZ$3+ per kilometer. A taxi from the airport to Avarua costs approximately NZ$8-NZ$10 and takes about 5 minutes.
