Walking
From Nikao, start by heading south on Ara Tapu road. Walk towards the Ara Tapu intersection. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass the local shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for the Takitumu Conservation Area signs along the way, which will guide you to your destination.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can ride along the Ara Tapu road. Start in Nikao and head south. The ride is approximately 2 kilometers. It’s a pleasant ride, and you’ll enjoy the natural scenery as you approach the Takitumu Conservation Area. Look for the signs directing you towards the conservation area as you get closer.
Public Transport (Bus)
Take the local bus service that runs along Ara Tapu road. Board the bus at any nearby bus stop in Nikao heading towards the Takitumu District. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off at the Takitumu Conservation Area stop, which is approximately 2 kilometers away. Once you disembark, follow the signs to the conservation area entrance.
