Car
If you are driving a rental car, start from Avarua, the capital of Rarotonga. Head west on Ara Tapu road towards Arorangi. Continue on this road for approximately 10 minutes (about 8 km) until you reach the Arorangi District. Look for the location marker P6M2+RCM on your GPS. You will find a small parking area near the entrance to Papua Passage. Make sure to have a local map or GPS handy, as some signs may be limited.
Public Transportation
To reach Papua Passage using public transport, take the local bus service from Avarua. Look for the bus route heading to Arorangi. The journey will take about 25-30 minutes, and buses run regularly throughout the day. Ask the driver to let you off near the P6M2+RCM marker in Arorangi District. After getting off, walk approximately 5 minutes towards the marked area, which should be easily identifiable. Bus fares are generally around 5 NZD.
Walking
If you are already in the Arorangi District, you can easily walk to Papua Passage. Simply follow the main road towards the west from any nearby location, and within 10-15 minutes, you should reach the area. It’s a beautiful walk along the coast, so enjoy the scenery along the way!
