    From La Fortuna, drive approximately 13 km (15 minutes) southwest on Route 142. Look for signs for Mirador El Silencio. Parking is available near the ticket office. Note that the road includes both paved and dirt sections. Parking is free.

    Take a local bus from La Fortuna towards Arenal Volcano National Park. Ask the driver to drop you off near Mirador el Silencio. From the drop-off point, there is approximately a 1-2 kilometer (0.6-1.2 miles) walk to the entrance. Check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited. Bus fare is approximately ₡600- ₡1200 CRC.

Mirador el Silencio, aptly named 'The Silence,' offers a peaceful escape into Costa Rica's natural beauty, with some of the best views of Arenal Volcano. This private reserve, located just 13km (approximately 15 minutes drive) from La Fortuna, provides a less crowded and more intimate experience compared to other attractions in the area. The reserve spans 550 acres (225 hectares), with around 250 acres (100 hectares) of primary forest, boasting mature trees that have never been cut down. Visitors can explore six well-marked hiking trails, totaling about 8.5 miles (14 km), ranging from easy to moderate difficulty. Some trails lead to the highest viewpoint, offering eye-level views of Arenal's cone-shaped peak and the old lava flows from the 1968 eruption. As you hike, keep an eye out for diverse wildlife, including howler monkeys, coatis, white-faced capuchin monkeys, toucans, parrots, and various songbirds. The trails also showcase colorful butterflies and exotic plant species.
