    From La Fortuna, take Route 142 west towards Lake Arenal. Turn left onto the dirt road leading to Arenal Volcano National Park and El Castillo. The visitor center and parking area for Arenal 1968 will be about 1.25 km (3/4 of a mile) down the road on the left. Parking is available in a large parking lot. A 4x4 vehicle is not necessary.
