From Arenal Volcano National Park, head northwest on Route 142 towards La Fortuna. Continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 4. Turn left onto Route 4 and drive for approximately 10 kilometers. You will pass through the town of Tilarán. Continue straight on Route 4 until you reach the turn-off for Nuevo Arenal. The entrance to Parque del Lago de Nuevo Arenal will be accessible from the lakeshore area, approximately 5 kilometers after turning off Route 4. Look for signs indicating the park as you approach.

To reach Parque del Lago de Nuevo Arenal using public transportation, start by taking a bus from La Fortuna to Tilarán, which can be found at the La Fortuna bus station. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and costs around 1,500 CRC. Once in Tilarán, transfer to a bus heading to Nuevo Arenal. This leg of the journey typically takes about 30-40 minutes and costs approximately 1,000 CRC. After arriving in Nuevo Arenal, you can either walk or take a taxi to Parque del Lago de Nuevo Arenal, which is about a 10-minute drive from the bus stop.
