Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car within the Brunca Region, head towards the town of San Isidro de El General. From San Isidro, take Route 2 (Interamericana) towards the northwest. After approximately 25 kilometers, turn onto Route 221 towards San Miguel. Continue on Route 221 for about 14 kilometers until you reach the town of Valverde Vega. From here, follow the signs towards Catarata del Toro, which is located approximately 6 kilometers north of the local church in Valverde Vega. The road may be unpaved in some sections, so drive cautiously.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Catarata del Toro via public transportation, first take a bus from San Isidro de El General to the city of San José. Once in San José, transfer to a bus heading towards Valverde Vega. Buses to Valverde Vega may not run frequently, so check the schedule in advance. Upon arriving in Valverde Vega, you can hire a taxi or look for local transport to take you the final 6 kilometers to Catarata del Toro. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver beforehand.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route and are already in the vicinity of Valverde Vega, consider hiring a taxi to take you to Catarata del Toro. This can be arranged via local taxi services. The fare can vary, so it’s advised to negotiate the price before the trip. The journey from Valverde Vega should take around 15-20 minutes.

• Walking

  For the adventurous, if you are staying in Valverde Vega, you could consider walking to Catarata del Toro. The walk is approximately 6 kilometers and can take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the main road north from the church in Valverde Vega, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
