Getting there

Shuttle Bus

From the center of La Fortuna, head to the main bus station located on Avenida 2. Look for the shuttle buses that are heading to Monteverde. These shuttles typically depart every hour. Purchase your ticket at the counter or directly from the driver. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the way as you pass through the lush landscapes of Costa Rica.

Shared Van

To take a shared van to Monteverde, make your way to any travel agency or tour operator in La Fortuna. Many offer daily shared van services to Monteverde. Be sure to book your seat in advance, especially during peak season. The van will pick you up from your hotel or a central location in La Fortuna, and the trip will take approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on road conditions.

Walking (to the Shuttle Bus Station)

If you prefer to walk to the shuttle bus station, start from the central park of La Fortuna. Head south on Avenida 1 until you reach the main intersection. Turn left on Avenida 2, and continue walking for about 5-10 minutes. The bus station will be on your right side. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance to know the departure times.

Taxi

If you prefer a more private option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in La Fortuna directly to Monteverde. Simply hail a taxi or ask your hotel to arrange one for you. The taxi will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach Monteverde, and you will have the flexibility to stop along the way for photos or refreshments.
