Walking
From downtown Santa Elena, Ficus La Raiz is accessible by foot. The walk is relatively short, taking approximately 15 minutes. Head east from the town center, following signs for 'Ficus La Raiz'. The trailhead is located just outside of town. Some sections of the road may be unpaved. A small parking lot marks the entrance. Note that one of the trails accessing the bridge is privately owned and may require a small entrance fee of around 1000 colones (~$2 USD).
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Santa Elena. A taxi ride from the town center to Ficus La Raiz is a short trip, costing approximately $5-$10 USD. Ensure the driver uses the meter or negotiate the fare beforehand. The ride is about 5 minutes. Taxis usually only accept cash.
