Experience Irazú Crater Lookout Point

Getting There

  • Car

    From Turrialba Valley, head northwest on Route 10 (Carretera Interamericana) towards the town of Cartago. Continue on Route 10 for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 2. Take Route 2 towards San José and follow the signs for Irazú Volcano. After about 15 kilometers, you will see signs directing you to the Irazú Volcano National Park entrance. The entrance fee is approximately $15 for foreign visitors. After paying the entrance fee, continue driving up to the Irazú Crater Lookout Point, which is about 8 kilometers from the entrance.

    Start at Turrialba’s central bus station. Take a bus towards Cartago, which typically runs every hour. The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Cartago, transfer to a bus heading to the Irazú Volcano National Park. The bus to Irazú usually departs from the main terminal.
