The NOB (Narodnooslobodilačka Borba, or National Liberation War) Monument in Vodice is a poignant reminder of the town's participation in the fight against fascism during World War II. Dedicated to the fallen Partisan soldiers of the Vodice region, the monument commemorates those who took part in the Liberation Battle from 1941 to 1945. The monument, created by Croatian artist Marijan Burger, was unveiled in December 1965, marking 20 years since the end of the Axis occupation of Dalmatia. The central feature is a 10-meter-tall, stylized white concrete obelisk, resembling a blossoming flower. It rests on a circular platform, a short distance from the Vodice harbor and the Adriatic Sea. A semi-circular wall displays metal plaques engraved with the names of the fallen. During World War II, 750 of Vodice's 3,400 citizens actively joined the resistance, with 238 losing their lives in the struggle. The monument stands as a testament to their courage and sacrifice. Today, the NOB Monument is well-maintained and a significant landmark on Vodice's waterfront promenade.
