The square is named after King Tomislav, the first king of Croatia, who united Croatian lands into one country and was crowned in 925 AD.The square is designed as a green park, forming part of the Lenuci horseshoe. During the winter, the square hosts 'Ice Park Zagreb' as part of the Advent in Zagreb festivities.Dominating the square is a monument dedicated to King Tomislav, an equestrian statue that serves as a focal point.
