Gradac Park, established in 1898, offers a serene retreat just a short walk from Dubrovnik's historic Old Town. This 1.7-hectare park provides a welcome escape from the city's crowds, with its lush greenery and stunning views of the Adriatic Sea.The park's design reflects a classic Mediterranean style, featuring fragrant pine and cypress trees, complemented by vibrant shrubs. Shaded walking paths wind through the park, offering picturesque views of the sea, the Lovrijenac Fortress, and the terracotta rooftops of the Old Town. Benches are scattered throughout, inviting visitors to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.Historically, Gradac Park has served as a gathering place and a natural defense against seaborne invasions. More recently, it gained fame as a filming location for the HBO series Game of Thrones, specifically for the Purple Wedding scene.Currently (July 2025), Gradac Park is undergoing a major renovation, expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. The renovation includes new landscaping, restored paths, enhanced lighting, a children's playground, and an outdoor amphitheater. During the renovation, the park is closed to visitors.

    Getting There

    Walking

    From Dubrovnik's Old Town, exit through Pile Gate and walk along Ulica Branitelja Dubrovnika. Turn left onto Ulica Dante Alighieri, pass Restaurant Sesame, and continue left on Ulica Don Frana Bulica, which leads to the park. Note that the park is currently closed for renovations until the first half of 2026.

    Public Transport

    From Lapad or Babin Kuk, take bus number 6 towards Pile and get off at Boninovo. Walk down Ulica Branitelja Dubrovnika, then turn right onto Ulica Rudimira Rotera and take the narrow staircase to the park. From Gruž, take bus number 1 towards Pile, get off at Boninovo, and follow the same directions. A single bus fare costs around 12-15 HRK.
